Pushkar 27.1 - 30.1.2004

Day 7: Jaipur - Pushkar

I got to the trainstation in a morning, jumped in a first train to Ajmer, which happened to be a local train. So I got to experience 3rd class traveling, not too bad experience, although three hours is a pretty much max. time I wanna sit in those hard seats. Hopped in a bus from Ajmer and headed over the hills to Pushkar. On top of the hill driver turns off the engine and lets the bus ride freely to downhill: I was sure were gonna crash, but somehow we got there in one piece.

Day 8: Pushkar

Had a really lousy night in a hotel I chose. There was a noisy washing machine in a room next to mine and sheets were dirty and it was all in all a miserable joint. So first thing in a morning I packed my stuff and moved to another hotel. Pushkar is really small place and you can see it pretty much in one day. Actually there isn`t that much to see, but it is the atmosphere of this place that is really mellow and I dig it, as we hippie wannabees say.

Day 9: Pushkar

I Had a ticket to Udaipur for today, but I was enjoying Pushkar way too much to leave just yet, so I throw that ticket away. It was only less than three euros, so who cares? Life was great, my hotel had a buffet restaurant: breakfast, lunch and dinner were all 90 cents each.

Day 10: Pushkar

Once again I slept like a baby. Thing about India is that it is really noisy, day and night, but not here in Pushkar, at least not in my hotel. This isn`t perfect paradise, though: It`s such a holy place for hindus that there`s no meat or beer available here. And those are the two things that I need regularly, so I have to move on.
