| Day 29: Xian When I walked out of the train station, there was a guy offering rooms from HI with free transportation there, great service. Spend rest of the day just walking around Xian. Interesting city with large muslim population. Couldn`t find decent beer anywhere, they all tasted like some kind of light beer that is brewed in to a mineralwater. Day 30: Xian
Terracotta warriors were the reason I came to Xian and it was time to check them out. Bus - and train stations are next to each other so I tried to buy train ticket to Chongqing. There wasn`t any tickets available for a week so I got ticket to Chengdu instead. Hopped in a bus to see them warriors which are about 50 km from xian. Had to walk through souvenir hell to get there, but it was worth it, fascinating place. Day 31: Xian
It was once again time visit local buddhist monastery. Specialty of that place was a huge pagoda, but I was much more interested with their garden, which was really impressive. Nothing wrong with that pagoda, though. Took it easy for a rest of the day. Day 32: Xian - Chengdu
Didn`t have anything planned for today, so I just loitered in my hostel until it was checkout time. Visited in Xian`s great mosque before heading to train station. Sneaked in to VIP lounge with group of American tourists. Aah, soft sofas and AC. |
