Slovakia 26.6 - 1.7 2005

Day 20: Zakopane - Levoca

Took local bus to Slovakian border in a morning and crossed border on foot. Unfortunately there wasn`t busses going anywhere in hours on Slovakian side, so I had to take a shared cab to Poprad, where I hopped in a bus and continued to Levoca. It was raining cats and dogs when I arrived so I just went to first hotel that came along: A bit over my price range, but what can you do?

Day 21: Levoca

God damn, that place had thin walls: I could hear my next door neighbours having sex, like they were in a same room! So I packed my stuff and went looking for private accomodation. Tourist info recommended couple places and I chose one them: Perfect paradise with my own room and small garden (and no horny Australians next door) right in a heart of old town!

Day 22: Levoca - Spisske Podhradie - Levoca

Took a daytrip to Spisske Podhradie to visit one of the largest castle complexes of middle europe. Amazing place! Although it is a bit of a hike to get on top of that hill, its definitely well worth the effort. Had lunch in Spisske before I returned to Levoca. Did my laundry in evening and after that I rewarded myself with bottle of vodka...

Day 23: Levoca

Nice smooth hangover day - I did absolutely nothing except some reading and listened some music. Levoca was definitely one of my favourite places on this trip: Nice small town, cheap food, cheap beer: what more could you ask?

Day 24: Levoca - Kosice

Road from Levoca to Kosice was really beautiful with all those mountains and valleys along the way. After finding myself a place to stay, I went to trainstation to get ticket to Sighisoara, but they were asking 73 euros for it !!? I couldn`t afford that, so I had to slightly adjust my plans. I bought ticket to Eger instead. And that was only 3 euros.

Day 25: Kosice

Todays first target was Miklus prison which is dating back to 16th century. Unfortunately everything was described in slovakian so I didn`t get much out of it, although those medieval torture chambers didn`t require much commenteries. Walked around old town rest of the day and somehow ended in catholic service (again). I was wondering if I should confess to a priest, since I`ve been having rather impure thoughts with all these hot slovakian babes around me?
