Agra - Delhi 25.2 - 28.2.2004

| Day 36: Agra Since my train was six hours late I had to adjust my plans a bit. I`m gonna visit Agra fort today and Taj Mahal tomorrow, so I hopped off in a Agra fort-station and headed there. Tickets were pretty expensive, but fort was beautifully restored and there was amazing marble mosque inside. It was getting late,so I took a riksha to the Taj mahal and picked a hotel nearby, so I could go there at sunrise. Day 37: Agra - Delhi
Didn`t even need my alarmclock since I got nice AALLAAAAH AAKHBAAAAAR - wakeup call before 6 AM from a nearby mosque. Walked to ticketbooth of Taj and almost had a stroke! Ticket was 15 euros?! Has somebody lost their touch with reality? After a quick think, I paid that price, it`s not like I`m coming back to Agra anytime soon. Greedy MF`s. Taj was beautiful, though. It was interesting to see how it changed colour as the sun kept rising. Took a train to Delhi in afternoon. 3rd class was absolutely packed with people. Day 38: Delhi
I`m running out of money, so I chose cheapest hotel I could find. Two euros a night don`t get you whole lot in Delhi, but I survived. After quick stop at Balika bazaar, I headed to red fort, which was closed last time I was here. After Agra fort, that place was pretty lame. I had few hours left in India, so I just walked around old Delhi rest of the day. Day 39: Delhi - Moskova - Helsinki - Oulu
My flight from Delhi left early in a morning and like a last reminder of India, runway was bumpiest I`ve ever experienced. There was quite a difference between 3rd class train in India and pendolino in Finland, which I took from Helsinki to Oulu. And I don`t just mean that 66 euros I spend on a ticket, which was my weekly budget in India. |
